Seven days covers the three cities most people picture when they think of Rajasthan — Jaipur's forts, Jodhpur's blue old town beneath Mehrangarh, and Udaipur's lakes. What it deliberately leaves out is the Thar desert, which sits several hundred kilometres further west and needs its own days.
That omission is the point rather than a shortcut. These three cities sit in a reasonably tight triangle, so the drives stay at four to five hours rather than the seven-hour desert runs, and each city gets a full day plus part of another.
This is the version for a first trip to Rajasthan, or for anyone who would rather see three places properly than five in passing. If Jaisalmer and the desert are what drew you, the eight and nine day itineraries are the honest answer instead.

What seven days leaves out
Jaisalmer and the Thar desert. Reaching them adds a seven-hour drive west from Jodhpur and at least two days. If a camel safari and dune camping are on your list, the eight or nine day itineraries are built around exactly that and this one is not.
Mehrangarh is the fort people do not expect
Jodhpur's fort rises straight out of the rock above the blue city and is among the best preserved in India, with an audio guide that is genuinely good. Most visitors arrive expecting Jaipur to be the highlight and leave rating Mehrangarh above it.
October to March is the season, and it matters more here
Rajasthan in April to June regularly passes 45°C, and the desert stretches become genuinely punishing rather than merely hot. October to March is comfortable throughout. July to September brings the monsoon — the state turns green, prices drop, and the crowds thin, though desert activities are limited.

Which cities does the 7 day Rajasthan tour cover?
Jaipur, Jodhpur and Udaipur, starting and ending in Delhi. That is the compact triangle of Rajasthan — forts, the blue city and the lakes — with drives of four to five hours between them rather than the long desert runs further west.
Does this tour include Jaisalmer and the desert?
No. Jaisalmer is around seven hours west of Jodhpur and needs at least two more days to be worth the drive. Our eight and nine day itineraries are built around it, including the camel safari and dune sunset. Seven days is the version that skips the desert deliberately in order to give three cities proper time.
Are hotels and meals included?
Yes — six nights on a twin-sharing basis including palace and heritage properties, and all meals as set out in the itinerary, along with a private air-conditioned vehicle throughout and a licensed guide in each city. Fort and monument entry fees are billed separately and confirmed in writing first.
How much driving is involved?
Delhi to Jaipur is about five hours, Jaipur to Jodhpur around five to six, and Jodhpur to Udaipur roughly five including a stop. The drives sit between full sightseeing days rather than on top of them, and all of it is in a private air-conditioned vehicle that stays with you for the week.
Is 7 days enough for Rajasthan?
For three cities seen properly, yes. For the whole state, no — Rajasthan is larger than England and the desert west alone needs three days. Seven days gives you the forts, the blue city and the lakes without any day feeling like a transfer, which is a better trip than five cities at a jog.
