Twelve days is the only itinerary we run that puts the Golden Triangle and the whole of Rajasthan into one trip. Delhi and Agra at the start, then the full western loop — Jaipur, Jodhpur, Jaisalmer, Mount Abu, Ranakpur and Udaipur — with none of the compression that makes shorter versions feel like transfers.
The practical difference is not more cities. It is that each one gets a full day, the long desert legs stop being endurance tests, and there is room to sit still. Rajasthan is larger than England, and the difference between seeing it in nine days and twelve is mostly the difference between arriving and staying.
This is the trip for a first visit where you are unlikely to come back soon, or for anyone who would rather do one thorough journey than two partial ones. If your time is tighter, the nine-day version covers the same state with the Taj Mahal dropped.

Our seven, eight and nine day Rajasthan tours start and end in Delhi but do not go to Agra. If you want the Taj Mahal and the full western loop in one trip, this is the version that does it — which is part of why it runs to twelve days.
Pack for two climates
Between November and February, Jaisalmer and Mount Abu get genuinely cold after dark while the middle of the day stays warm, and Udaipur is milder than both. Layers matter more on this trip than on any of the shorter ones.
October to March is the season, and it matters more here
Rajasthan in April to June regularly passes 45°C, and the desert stretches become genuinely punishing rather than merely hot. October to March is comfortable throughout. July to September brings the monsoon — the state turns green, prices drop, and the crowds thin, though desert activities are limited.
The route gets reshaped often
Most of our longer trips start as a standard route and change. Common adjustments are dropping a city to slow the rest down, adding Bundi or Shekhawati for the painted havelis, or finishing in Udaipur rather than returning to Delhi. Does the 12 day Rajasthan tour include the Taj Mahal?
Yes, and it is the only one of our Rajasthan itineraries that does. Delhi and Agra come at the start, before the western loop through Jaipur, Jodhpur, Jaisalmer, Mount Abu, Ranakpur and Udaipur. The seven, eight and nine day versions cover Rajasthan alone.
Is 12 days too long for Rajasthan?
Only if you would rather move quickly than settle. Rajasthan is larger than England, and twelve days is what it takes to give each city a full day and still cross the desert without endurance driving. The nine-day version covers the same state at a faster pace if your time is tighter.

Heritage and palace properties throughout, on a twin-sharing basis with breakfast. Several are converted forts and havelis rather than modern hotels, which on a trip this length is part of the experience rather than a detail. Because these fill months ahead in peak season, a part payment confirms them.
