Ranthambore is the reason this itinerary exists. It is one of the few places in India where a wild tiger is a realistic prospect rather than a long shot, and it sits close enough to the Jaipur road that adding it costs you one day rather than a separate trip.
The park is a former royal hunting reserve, and the ruined fort inside it makes the landscape unlike any other tiger reserve in the country. You take two safaris — one evening, one the following morning — which is the sensible minimum, since a single drive is a coin toss.
The rest of the route is the standard Golden Triangle: the Taj Mahal and Agra Fort, then Amber Fort and the Jaipur old city after the park. You are trading some of the depth of a five-day heritage trip for two safaris, which is a good trade if wildlife is why you are here.

Ranthambore is closed from July to September
The park shuts for the monsoon, generally from 1 July to 30 September, with only limited zones open at the edges. If your dates fall in that window this itinerary does not run and we will say so rather than substituting something and hoping you do not notice.
Nobody can promise you a tiger
Ranthambore has among the better sighting rates in India, and two safaris across two parts of the day give you a genuine chance — but it is a wild animal in a 1,300 square kilometre reserve. Any operator guaranteeing a sighting is either lying or taking you somewhere that is not a national park.
Safari zones are allocated, not chosen
The forest department assigns zones and vehicles through a permit system, and popular zones go early in peak season. Booking well ahead improves what we can request, but no operator controls the allocation. Permits are included in your tour price.
Multi-day tours need a part payment

It is still a wild animal in a large reserve, and no honest operator will guarantee it. What we can promise is two proper drives with a naturalist rather than one rushed one.
When is Ranthambore National Park open?
October to June. The park closes for the monsoon, generally 1 July to 30 September, with only limited buffer zones open. October to March is the most comfortable for weather; April to June is hot but sightings improve as animals concentrate around water.
How many safaris are included?
Two — one evening drive on arrival and one the following morning. That is the sensible minimum, since a single drive is close to a coin toss and the two halves of the day behave differently. Park permits and a naturalist are included in the price.
Can we choose our safari zone?

Is this better than a standard 5 day Golden Triangle?
Only if wildlife is a real priority. You are trading heritage depth for two safaris — this version covers Delhi lightly and gives Agra and Jaipur less time than the five-day heritage itinerary. If a tiger is the thing you most want from the trip, it is worth the trade.
