The difference between three days and four on this route is Delhi. The three-day version starts with a compressed morning in the capital before driving to Agra; this one gives Delhi a full day, which is the difference between seeing Red Fort and Jama Masjid at a march and actually walking Chandni Chowk.
The extra night also takes the pressure off day two. You reach Agra the evening before rather than after a day of sightseeing, which means the Taj Mahal happens on fresh legs, and Fatehpur Sikri gets the time it needs on the way to Jaipur instead of a twenty-minute photo stop.
This is the version we recommend to most first-time visitors. Three days is doable and genuinely covers the headline sights; four days covers the same ground without any day feeling like a commute.

What the fourth day actually buys
A full day in Delhi instead of a morning, Fatehpur Sikri walked properly rather than glimpsed, and Nahargarh Fort at sunset in Jaipur. If you are choosing between this and the three-day version, those three things are the whole difference.
Avoid a start day that puts Agra on a Friday
The Taj Mahal is closed every Friday with no exceptions. Because the Agra day is fixed within this itinerary, your start date decides whether you see it. Send us your dates and we will flag the clash before you book, or reshape the route so Agra lands elsewhere in the week.
October to March is the comfortable season
Clear skies and pleasant days across the whole route. December and January mornings can be foggy in Agra, which sometimes delays the Taj Mahal view. April to June gets very hot and the itinerary shifts to early starts. July to September is the monsoon — fewer crowds, lower prices, and Rajasthan at its greenest.

For most first-time visitors, yes. The fourth day gives Delhi a full day rather than a compressed morning, lets Fatehpur Sikri be walked properly on the Agra to Jaipur leg, and adds a Jaipur sunset. The three-day version covers the same headline sights but every afternoon involves real driving after a full morning.

How much driving is there over the four days?
Delhi to Agra is about three and a half hours, Agra to Jaipur around four and a half including the Fatehpur Sikri stop, and Jaipur back to Delhi roughly five. Spread over four days that is comfortable; the same driving over three days is what makes the shorter version feel rushed.
Can we add Ranthambore or Udaipur to this itinerary?
Yes, and it is a common change. Ranthambore for a tiger safari makes it a five-day trip; Udaipur adds two days and a long drive south. We also run both as standard itineraries if you would rather start from those.
What is the best time of year for the Golden Triangle?
